Sacrifice the Many for the One?

The now-viral Easter video of the Polish-Canadian Pastor protectively roaring at the warrantless police officers and driving them out of his church service has become an anthem for the long-too-silent majority.  While some opine it was not Christ-like to treat Trudeau’s tyrants with such emotive disdain, most comprehend that when the wolves come for the sheep; the shepherd gets to work.

In case you missed it, a battalion of officers accompanied a health care worker in an attempt to shut down the Resurrection celebration of those who love God more than they fear Corona. Exactly when, might you ask, did the power-drunk aristocrats pull the woolen masks over the eyes of the hapless flocks with their scientifically baseless lockdowns and legislatively vacuous mandates? It was just about this time last year, 2020.

One small step to flatten the curve.  One giant leap to flatten mankind.

A year ago, Drs. “Jaja” Birx and “Infallible” Fauci both famously bloviated that quarantines, lockdowns, and social distancing would not minimize cases - only delay them.  It’s about the only thing they got right.

America stands at a 9.3% infection rate across the entire population.  Keep in mind, this number is about as accurate as can be mustered based on the fact testing protocols have a myriad of problems and anomalies associated with them.  Of the infected group, the mortality rate stands at 1.8% with the average age of those who died over 80.

Keeping in clear focus the doctoring of death certificates had become a near-criminal art, this rounds out to a .17% mortality rate across the entire population while the global mortality rate stands at .036%.

Which forces us to answer this question:  Has the mass degradation of human interaction, the unprecedented decimation of emotional well-being, and the immense devastation of our financial well-being been warranted based on these percentages?  I believe history will look back on how this virus was handled with conspiratorial bewilderment and utter derision.

Sadly, we all know people who suffered and died from this virus but I still propose:  Had the governmental agencies, media pundits, and so-called experts not erected such an ominous haunted house of disinformation, would we have so compliantly climbed up into the stocks on behalf of such a slender percentage of the population?  If your answer is, “Yes”, perhaps consider that Heart Disease, Cancer, and Accidents kill over 1.3 million people every year yet the general population carries on with their lives free from any government-imposed safety-isms.

My heart in this matter is not to minimize the virus or the associated suffering.  But, can we at least admit that the press continually sweeps a vital fact under the woolen rug:  The vast majority of our country has been ordered to suffer in the name of the very few.

The aforementioned Pastor, Artur Pawlowski, grew up behind the Iron Curtain in Poland under the Soviet reign of terror.   He experienced firsthand how the once valiant brigades that gained power rescuing and protecting Poland from Hitler’s Coup d’Hell, quickly shed their humanitarian facade and unfurled their totalitarian claws.  With each toke on the crack pipe of power, the Soviets managed to subjugate half of Europe under Communism.

Therefore, knowing the mortality rate of SARS-COV-2 in Canada stood at .06% and perceiving the oppressive patterns of bureaucratic crack addicts, this shepherd wielded his staff and in doing so, symbolically stood up for the nearly 65% of the Canadian population who identify as Christian — the largest religious group in Canada by far.

And this brings us to the subtle, yet cataclysmic nature of this woke, progressive ethos sweeping across our lands:  Why is the majority of the citizenry forced to suffer punishment, shaming, and social imprisonment in the name of an infinitesimally small segment of society which is at risk?

When relatively small scrums of Antifa and BLM Inc. mobs terrorize a few blocks, instead of snuffing out their destructive rage, entire cities are expected to sit quietly and suffer the consequences.  When school test scores are deemed too low among specific societal segments, instead of strategizing solutions to aid underperforming students to bring their scores up, the entire student body is told their hard work no longer matters as testing itself becomes demonized and discarded.

When a minuscule number of transgender athletes demand to race against biological females, instead of protecting hard-fought-for women’s rights by creating a new division for transgenders to compete in, there is no recourse for the majority but to zip up their track jackets and watch the podiums, titles, and scholarships get filled by the few.  Adding insult, this same minority has caused the entire educational population to surrender their long-held practice of privacy in Boys and Girls bathrooms, lockers, and showers.

As if the scales haven’t been tipped enough by this phenomena, based on gender self-identity, states have begun allowing inmates to select whether they go to a male or female prison.  Instead of denying such a fraught-filled proposal to protect the general population, there are now numerous female prisoners who have been impregnated by the handful of trans women who insisted they were not men.

Knowing full well the overwhelming majority of police interactions do not end in brutality or wrongful death, nonetheless, the collective contingent of hard-working, law enforcement men and women are demonized with every slur and insult imaginable.  Why?  Because criminal behavior no longer matters as the press amplifies the truncated narratives of the few.

I could continue to endlessly unpack this very visible backpack, but I think the current patterns of progressivism are quickly coming into focus.  They have mastered the art of war which endlessly harangues, berates, and shames the vast majority of Americans instead of doing the hard, sacrificial work of bringing real healing, relief, and restoration to the few.  Or the one.

Does this sound like a leadership who love their country?

Our Founders loved their country. Half of the signers of the Declaration of Independence studied Divinity in university and all but three were biblically literate, church-going believers.  Conveniently, these are the tidbits of history that are being erased using a broad brush of white-out.

The people who most abhor ancient Scripture today are often the same ones who don’t understand how to contextually, spiritually, or exegetically interpret it.  So while the assertion is being made that this country was not founded upon Judeo-Christian principles and purport that a scriptural faith in God has no bearing on American civilization — such an assertion is woefully, historically, and empirically flagged by the real fact-checkers as:  False.

Devastatingly, this is how real deficiencies seep into a burgeoning culture.  Intended or not, to remove the biblical worldview is to install another; and history proves this replacement is never a societal upgrade but almost always a deadly downgrade.

The secular progressives faintly remember an ancient story about Jesus.  It went something like this:  When one sheep became lost and got in trouble, he abandoned the 99 to rescue the one.

The secular sermon which subsequently bellows from this faint, parabolic recollection goes something like this:  Jesus, the messianic socialist, can not bear disparity or inequity of any kind.  So, instead of associating with the oppressive majority who didn’t care that one sheep went astray, he deservedly leaves the flock alone and vulnerable to signal his virtue for the one.

Even the three unchurched Declaration signers would get this one right!  Jesus is teaching about a good shepherd, not a bad one.  The good shepherd works hard and lovingly to land his beloved flock safely high on the mountain - above the snake line and devoid of crags where approaching wolves might hide.

He does not abandon the majority to willfully place them in peril.  Rather, he has cared so well for the many that he can now confidently go and find the lost and suffering sheep — and bring it back into the blessed flock.

“If someone owns a hundred sheep and one of them goes astray, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountain and go look for the one that went astray?  And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he will rejoice more over it than over the ninety-nine that did not go astray”

~ Matthew’s Gospel, 18

But today, the ninety-nine are accused as being the crux of the problem of the wandering one.  Maniacally, today's bad shepherd’s beat, punish and scatter the flock while decrying, “Don’t you realize one is missing?!”  And voila; the parable of the good shepherd becomes the parable of the wolf in shepherd's clothing.

Alas, today’s bad shepherds never even look for the lost.  It’s more expedient to scourge the found.

Even Mr. Spock knew these precepts to be true. In The Wrath of Khan, he said this famous quote just before sacrificing himself to save the ship and the crew;

“The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Or the one.”

Jesus said he is the Good Shepherd.  The Good Shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.  All the sheep. He explains further that the bad shepherd runs away when the wolves attack the flock because he cares nothing for the sheep.

Why our fellow sheep put so much trust in the countless bad shepherds today is a thing too awful to ponder.

Only a Good Shepherd sheds a tear as he looks over the current state of societal affairs:

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and dispirited, like sheep without a shepherd”.

Mathew’s Gospel, 9

May we know the difference between the truly good shepherds, like Pastor Artur, and the harmfully bad shepherds.  May we cherish and value the flock, the entire flock, and not show judgment or disdain for it.  And may we seek out the ones who are lost and suffering and bring them into the fold.
